A new chapter in the story of the South Wales Valleys
Since the Valleys Regional Park partnership was established in 2020, the collective efforts of individuals and organisations across the South Wales Valleys has brought a wave of positive change — socially, economically, and environmentally.
12 outstanding parks and green spaces across the Valleys became designated ‘Discovery Gateways’ — launchpads for discovering the landscape and heritage of the South Wales Valleys. And thanks to VRP, almost £6m of Welsh Government funding was granted to these twelve sites, allowing each one to add to their offerings to better engage local communities with the natural wonders and cultural riches on their doorsteps.
