We can all get involved
The Valleys Regional Park enjoys some of the most breath-taking views in Wales and the UK. The bleak and barren hillsides of our industrial past are green once more as the natural riches have been restored. In fact, it’s so beautiful now, you would never guess what challenges the environment endured. But there’s far more to do.
We want to make sure this work continues, by restoring and looking after our landscapes now and in the future, so they continue to support our health and wellbeing, while being enjoyed by more people than ever before. It is also important for us all to look after our communities to ensure they thrive too.
Volunteering provides excellent opportunities to achieve this. People of all ages, with all kinds of abilities are needed and will gain so much by doing it!
You could keep the sites in the Valleys Regional Park neat by helping with gardening or maintenance; you might like to protect the delicate natural habitat by volunteering at one of the country parks or nature reserves; or perhaps you’d prefer to serve customers in a gallery or museum, or provide refreshments in one of the cafes or visitor centres?
Plus, the benefits of volunteering are wide ranging. You can meet new people, make new friends and interact with others as much or as little as you’d like; you’ll also learn new skills, as the Discovery Gateways will provide all the training you need; plus you’ll gain the satisfaction of knowing you’re doing your bit to keep the park and local communities thriving.
Whether you’re looking for a reason to get out of the house, you need to enhance your CV, you want to protect our environment or you’re simply looking to have more fun – volunteering in the VRP is definitely the answer.
