Get in there
All of the Discovery Gateways have pledged their commitment to making this wonderful Welsh region – its breath-taking nature, awesome activities and fascinating culture – accessible to all. So, we have created a key to the facilities which can be found at each of the Discovery Gateways, with a section focused on accessibility.
Some of our Discovery Gateways have disabled parking, ramps and automatic doors to enable wheelchair accessibility – they also offer toilets with disabled access. Some have Changing Places facilities for adults with special needs.
Trails indicated as having a firm surface are suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and/or more suitable for those who have difficulty walking. Terrain is also indicated as being largely flat or hilly or a mix of both.
Some visitor centres have hearing aid loops, others offer some communications in large type or braille and, if you can’t make it into nature, you can listen to audio trails around some of the sites here.
Group bookings for those with specific accessibility requirements can be arranged by contacting each of the Discovery Gateways directly.
For further details on the accessible features found at each Discovery Gateway, please see their site’s individual Facilities Key on their profile page.
What’s more, if you’d like to connect with other mixed ability groups in the VRP area, discover organised activities or find organisations who specialise in supporting those with mental or physical challenges or disabilities, you can start browsing here Dewis Cymru.
As part of our commitment to improving, we would love to hear your feedback on how we can make our Valleys even more accessible, so please do get in touch via our enquiry form.
We look forward to seeing you in the park soon!
