Parc Slip Nature Reserve

The 300-acre Nature Reserve and Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre really does have something for everyone! 

The reserve is home to over 1,000 species of incredible wildlife and some of Wales’ rarest plants. From endangered great crested newts that breed in the ponds and lakes, to elusive harvest mice and charismatic lapwings found in the wildflower meadows, which are themselves alive with orchids, ragged robin and buttercups. There really is no excuse not to go WILD!

There are also a variety of different habitats to explore with over 10km of walking tracks including on our new 4 WILD themed family walking trails and traffic-free cycle tracks, including a 4km stretch of Sustrans National Cycle Route 4! We also have an outdoor café seating area, a green roof bike shelter and electric car charging point.

Our cafe is developing its range of food, come along and try some gorgeous homemade soups, there are many vegetarian and vegan options as well as more traditional meat options. And, of course, there is always cake.

Through funding from Welsh Government as part of VRP, Parc Slip Nature Reserve has been able to implement several new projects. This includes two new VR experiences, charging points for eco cars, and enhancement of the mining disaster memorial in the park.

Through Valleys Regional Park, the Welsh Government are proud to have also funded several new attractions such as a new orchard, a new bike rack shelter and a new undercover picnic station.
